Honey Baked Pears - Recipe

Warm Honey Baked Pears made with honey, cinnamon, vanilla and a little butter. Serve with Crème Fraîche or ice cream and a sprinkle of granola for crunch.
Price Per Item:
R 0.00

Ingredients:

  • 4 Ripe but firm pears
  • ½ Cup Honey
  • 2 Tbsp Butter melted
  • ½ tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Vanilla paste, extract, or the seeds of one vanilla pod

Optional Toppings:

  • Granola
  • Crème Fraîche/ Ice Cream / Greek Yoghurt

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C
  • I use 1 pear (two halves) per person

  • Cut the pears in half, then remove the core and seeds with a melon baller or measuring spoon. I don't peel the pears but you can if you wish. Slice a small piece off the back of each pear half to help them lie flat

  • Place the pears cut side up in an oven dish

  • Sprinkle the cinnamon over the pears

  • Melt the butter. If using a vanilla pod, cut it in half length ways and scrape out the seeds with the back of a knife. Set the pod aside to add while baking. Mix the honey, melted butter and vanilla in a jug

  • If using a vanilla pod, place it on top of the cinnamon sprinkled pears. Then pour the honey, butter, vanilla mixture evenly over the top of the pears

  • Bake the pears for 20 – 25 minutes, then turn them over and bake for an additional 20 – 25 minutes until tender

  • Note: A knife should easily pierce the pears but they should not fall apart
  • Serve warm, spooning over the leftover honey sauce. Then add a dollop of Crème Fraîche, ice cream, or yogurt and sprinkle with your favourite granola or toasted nuts
